The A1K line from Wilson is designed specifically for players that prefer a snugger fit in their glove. Each of these gloves is made from Wilson’s Top-Shelf leather, so the quality is top-notch, but what sets this line aside from the rest of what Wilson has to offer is the “Pedroia Fit™”, which is featured on each glove. The Pedroia Fit™ was modeled after MLB All-Star 2nd baseman Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia is a smaller guy with a smaller hand, but is still an elite player that demands an elite glove. These gloves have a tapered opening, so they’re tighter around the hand – they also feature shorter, narrower finger stalls, for a snug fit the whole way through. This line is perfect for the player that has a smaller hand or prefers a snug fit, but demands a high-quality and long-lasting glove.
The OF1225 is 12.25” in length and designed for an outfielder that prefers a glove on the shorter side. This glove features Wilson’s Pro-Laced T-web, which provides additional stability to the pocket to secure grounders and tough snowcone catches.
The shell, palm and lacing are composed of Wilson’s Top-Shelf leather. This leather is soft and light, making for an easy, personalized break-in, however it maintains the longevity that players have come to expect from Wilson gloves. This glove also features Wilson’s “Rolled Dual Welting”, which takes strips of the Pro Stock leather and rolls them as the welting for the glove, creating a long-lasting shape with a quicker break-in period.
As previously mentioned, this glove features the Pedroia Fit™ which includes: longer laces, a tapered hand opening, shorter & narrower finger stalls and a low-profile heel. The sizing for this glove has a smaller hand in mind, so it will fit tighter than a standard, adult glove.
The backing for this glove features a conventional, open back with a laced binding. The conventional back allows for extra ventilation, while the laced binding provides a secure and snug fit – keeping the glove in place, even during the toughest plays.
The soft, pliable Top-Shelf leather along with “Fastbreak Construction” allows for a quicker break-in time and more personalized pocket. The player can worry less about the time-consuming process of breaking-in a new glove just the way s/he likes it and more about getting out on the field to play ball.
Its STIFF. Ive soften it up a bit in the past 3 weeks but no where near game ready. Its getting really hard to form how you want it and I have a huge crease in the palm that folds when I close it... The web does not look as good as it does on my rawlings because its just a a long rectangle which does not look good in my opinion, on my rawlings it looks nicer because it has white stitching along and the lacing is just more beautiful. The laces on the A1K are also not good at all, I think I will have to change them because they feel like plastic.. Overall I am okay with it mainly because I got it when it was on sale for $59.96Review by Luis (Posted on 9/19/2015)
