Youth Baseball Bats
There are an incredible number of choices for youth and Little League baseball bats. Most youth baseball bats are made of aluminum or aluminum alloys because these bats are lighter and therefore are easier to swing with power. This is important, especially with young players.
Baseball bats will either be listed in ounces or with a negative number, such as: -10. This number is calculated by taking the length of the bat and subtracting its weight. For example, a 30 inch bat weighing 19 ounces would be a -11. Different leagues and/or different levels of play, use these numbers for requirements. Be sure to check your league's specifications. A player's age, height, weight, strength, and hitting style determine baseball bat weight. Generally, players in Little League or Youth League should use baseball bats between 16 and 23 ounces. Heavier bats can generate more power, but with bat speed. Lighter bats offer increase speed and control, but reduce pop.
